Why have projects?

Wishes are quite enough to keep anybody busy all year long but Projects serve some important purposes:

  • They generate large lots of goods needed every year at the same time
  • They help promote volunteerism off site which is terrific for spreading the name
  • Seasonal projects bring in donors and corporate donors that you would not get otherwise
  • The clients need the goods and our program of monthly projects lets everybody schedule for whether they need to buy a backpack, coat etc. or can get one free.
  • They raise awareness of the many subpopulations of needy. Everybody wants to  help kids but the elderly are in need too.

See our website for all the projects we currently run www.lowellwishproject.org/projects.html

Start small and work from your strong suit. If you have a group of friends that want to collect toys start a Christmas project.

Think big: Each year we now get 3,000 backpacks out to kids. Just a few years ago it was hundreds out of my garage.  As each year passes generally projects get more popular and you get better at managing them.  The current economy has had us cutting back on the number of projects  to put more focus on the important ones but we are seeing tremendous outpouring of assistance for the projects we are promoting.  But my motto in the early years was always " it is just as easy to help 100 people as to help 10".
